Circus In Performance End of Course Show - 'Points of Departure'

The current intake of CIP students will be presenting thier end of course show next Easter weekend. It is called 'Points of Departure' and is directed by Jerry Flanagan.

Tickets are on sale now priced at a flat rate of £5.50. There are a limited number of tickets available so we recommend that you book and pay for your tickets in advance - last year we did unfortunately have to turn people away. Tickets can be booked by calling the Greentop office on 0114 244 8828. We also recommend that you pay for you tickets in advance as this will 'speed your journey' into the event.

Evening Classes Cancelled This Week
Because of the CIP show rehearsals, all evening classes will be cancelled from 6th April to 10th April. They will be back to normal the following week. If in doubt call us (0114 244 8828) or check the website calendar.

Trees of Hope for Youth Circus
Greentop had a tree-planting ceremony on 31st March with the Sheffield Community Forestry Team. Four trees of hope were planted for Sheffield Youth Circus to show Greentop's long term commitment to the project. We are currently waiting to hear from Children in Need if they will fund us again, as they have funded us for six years already. We are pulling out all the stops to secure alternative funding in case we are unsuccessful and we do have contingency plans to operate on a more scaled-down basis. One way or another we will keep the Youth Circus going. We have set up 'Friends of Sheffield Youth Circus' that involves parents directly in fund raising, we are applying for all sorts of other grants and we are asking everyone if they can dotate their time and money to keep this important and unique project going. 444 Bulb Surprise for Caroline
After the tree-planting we had a surprise for Caroline Veal. Caroline has been the fund raiser for Greentop and in this time she has raised an amazing £444,000! This money has supported the Sheffield Youth Circus, CIP course , building renovations, various community projects, business development and loads more over the years. As a small token to show our appreciation Greentop Chief Executive Craig presented 444 flower bulbs for planting. Caroline is now a trustee and will comtinue to use her experience to the benefit of Greentop.

Creating Characters Workshop
We are proud to be hosting Phil Coggins of Babbling Vagabonds again this year for his new workshop ' Shortcuts to Creating Characters'. This is great for both professional and aspiring performers of any discipline who are interested in developing characters to bring their performances to life. An audience wants to be entertained, they need to relate to an act, to get invloved with the performance and simply being a demon juggler or a bendy acrobat is not enough. It ain't what you do, its the way that you do it! Greentop places an emphasis on performace as well as skill and Phil's workshop will explore the central aspect of any great performance - character.

Shortcuts to Creating Characters with Phil Coggins

A fun weekend exploring crafty tricks, techniques and exercises to develop original characters. Explore archetypes, pastiches, and grotesques! Play with physicality and see what happens when you lead with different leading points... a weekend working from the inside out to find the character chameleon in you! Phil Coggins is a theatre director. He is the joint artistic director of Babbling Vagabonds. He has trained with Cal MaCrystal (Cirque Du Solei, Spymonkey) Complicite, Kneehigh Theatre, No Fit State, Trestle Theatre, Told by an Idiot Theatre Company, Improb able theatre, along with other theatre makers of repute.

The Circus In Performance end of course show this year will be held on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th April, doors 7.30, show 8pm. Tickets for this always popular event are £5.50 (no concessions as they are already such a bargain price) and they need to be purchased in advance from the Greentop box office - the number is: 0114 244 8828.
